The story
The problem
“We are an organisation with modern offices and perks, and we offer our services to some really nice and recognisable companies.
But we are struggling to attract and retain the right people.
On top of that, performance is not where we think it can be.”
The observations
The offices are indeed beautiful, there are free snacks, shower facilities for exercise enthusiasts, and a games room. Most importantly, the teams seem to get on well.
The thing is that some people don’t even know there is a shower, the snacks only cater for some people’s taste, and no one ever plays any games.
Furthermore, our consultant discovers that there is no recruitment process, interviewers are not trained, a recruitment cycle takes over 90 days, and, finally, there is no retention strategy.
At the same time, team members seem too anxious about performance, and team leaders are too focused on generating reports, which they are good at, but forget to lead their teams, which they haven’t been shown how to do.
